This wasn't the most strenuous hike of this trip, but it was the most beautiful by far.
After the hike, we visited a few beaches, had some tasty food, then returned the rental car. The rest of the trip will be relaxing at the resort until we leave tomorrow!
There is a giant canyon on the south east side of Kaua'i that we decided to check out today, thinking it would be dryer than the northwest side of the island where we wanted to hike.
We were wrong about the weather and got drenched, but the canyon is incredible!
Today I hiked up the side of one of the ridges: 1250' elevation gained in less than 2 miles! I continued past the scenic outlook onto a less maintained ridge-line trail. It was steep, overgrown, and had sharp drop offs on both sides, but the view was incredible! According to the guidebook, 1/5 of the island can be seen from up there!
Today I slept in and then got things done around the apartment before Ellie and I went to Half Moon Bay for a beautiful bike ride along the ocean. We had fog, wind, and drizzle to begin, but then it cleared up for a beautiful day!
