Matter of Balance

I'm teaching a fall prevention/empowerment class and today was our third day. I have brought healthy snacks (crackers, fruit) each day and today one of the participants brought treats she had made! So great!

Chilly walk to church!

But worth it to walk home hunting Pokémon!

Being an auntie is the best

Tonight I got to paint Aya's nails, help May in the bath, and scare Steven by hiding out under his covers for at least 20 minutes until he came to bed. He and Benjamin were in and out twice without seeing me and somehow Aya didn't give me away by giggling!

Steven was surprised but not scared, so I'll call that a success!

Quick catch up

With photos from November and December!

Pootz loves our new rug!
I'm settling in with some new furniture
More to come! Xoxo

Fingers Crossed!

Benjamin introduced me to a different app to continue blogging...hopefully I can make it work!
Aya cleaned her room and "made it like a hotel" for me this weekend. She is such a sweet, considerate girl!
It feels so good to be with my family 💕

Fun

I worked hard Friday to get the apartment cleaned and laundry done so that I could play all weekend!

Saturday I spent time at the pool and having dinner with Tom and friends. Today was a bike ride and Eat Real Festival. So fun!

Rehydrating at Tom's after the pool

Who knew?

East vs West

Calculator, graphs, wide awake

Asleep before the plane takes off! (Hopefully!)

I'm so excited to see Sylvie, Melissa, and Dan!

Biking in the vines!

Today we drove to Calistoga to try out our new wheels.
Brit's is the green and mine is the orange.

It was a gorgeous day, sunny and warm in the vineyards. Unfortunately, I got TWO flat tires in our 33 mile ride! I have had bad luck with this lately!

After a shower, I tried making homemade energy bites to take on rides, and they turned out well!

Busy day!

I rode and made food :-)

My first trip on my new bike was great! It was sunny and warm and I even got to see my bridge!

On the left: pickled onion and collards.
On the right: ras el hanout roasted beets.
Now we wait six weeks for them to ferment!

Back to Yosemite!

Not nearly in the hiking shape I was in before, but it felt so great! I did my favorite trail and ended up grinning for 15 miles. Brit's climbing partner's husband was with us this time, so we made good meals for dinner and breakfast!
This is the neatest I've ever seen the bear box: proof that Bill and I packed it!

Grinning! I am so thankful to be healing and for the opportunity to be here!

Bill and I made ratatouille, mushroom rice, pork, and corn. Delicious!

I was up pretty early this morning, so I enjoyed a quiet walk...

Beautiful

Yosemite Falls is dry for the season, so we wandered around in the dry basin

Usually there is a waterfall here!

Looking out at the bridge over the dry riverbed

For all of the construction-truck lovers...

Have you seen a concrete truck like this??
The man told me it is for pouring concrete into the second floor of the building! So cool!

Weekend fun

Yesterday we went out to Stockton to see Brit's brother and sister in law and hear their band play: they were really good!

Today I got to see Stephanie, Jennifer, and Chris for brunch as they all passed through San Francisco, which was so fun!

After some basic maintenance, I went on my first bike ride since June! At 33 miles, it felt pretty short, but I am so happy to be able to slowly get back into the things I love!

Sad trombone

Brit humored me and drive out (90 minutes!) to the ocean last night to see the meteor shower. Despite weather reports that it would be clear, it was so foggy and cloudy that we couldn't see anything! We got home around 2am and could see more stars in the parking lot in the middle of Oakland than at the ocean!

1am at the ocean is chilly!

Hawaii Day

I'm not sure why we celebrate it, but we do it well!

There was even a hula hoop contest, though I left before I could get dragged into it!
