Telegraph Pass

The gate was closed when we got there this morning, so I went back once it got a bit warmer.  This is the steepest climb I've ever done and the view at the top is amazing!  A total time of 2 hours in and back, including the little spot where I got lost (what can I say, I'm a Halasz girl...)

Looking down at the trail I was supposed to follow...

The riverbed I climbed down back to the real trail-rocky!

This is the point where I started huffing and puffing: not even halfway up the big hill!

The little flowers made it fun

The trail is showing in the bottom corners-it was really far down!

Looking down and seeing all of Yuma is pretty neat!
This picture doesn't really do the hike justice-there are people down on the path, you just can't see them because I'm so far up!
Soooo beautiful!

Baking in Yuma vol. 1

I promised to bake tonight as a repayment for the eggs my boss brought me.

Q: What do you do when you don't have a mixing bowl?
A: Use your dutch oven!

Q: What happens when your oven is too tiny for your cookie sheet?
A: Squeeze!

Q: How do you know if your tiny oven runs hot?
A: You don't until you've burned your cookies!

Oh well, I'll just take in a half batch.  The kisses for the top were melting just sitting on the counter...it is pretty warm here!

Going hiking at Telegraph Pass this weekend.  We'll be on a mostly paved path that is, as my boss said, "really, really, really steep".  I promise to post pictures-it should be beautiful!  I miss everybody!

First Day!

First day at Yuma Regional Medical Center today-walked to work in 6 minutes and home in 5 (in 72* sunshine!) Everyone seems really nice and I think it will be a good few months.  Lots more ideas for places to visit outside, which is exciting!

Some apartment pics: small, but perfect for just me!
Galley kitchen--already made lunch and dinner for the week!
Bedroom-lots of white makes me feel calm :-)

Emmy and I couldn't pass up the "Elephant Butt" shower curtain!
View from the door into the apartment.

Sunday, Sunday!

An early flight out for my Emmy :-(, but I know she's glad to get back home.  To church, and now back at Starbucks to catch up on some work.  Gotta find Main Street!

Emmy and I had a hilarious dinner last night at Julieannas Patio Cafe  ,Yuma's most romantic, exotic place to dine.  I can't believe that we were still laughing that hard after 7 days straight of each other! At least I have found a place to eat other than chain restaurants.

Today is sunny and bright, which bodes well for my running around.  To work tomorrow!  I can see the hospital from the front of my apartment complex...awesome!

We're Here!!!!

No internet yet, so Emmy and I are chillin at Starbucks.  Today we'll go to a Farmers' Market and bum around Yuma in the sunshiny warmth.  Anyone who is interested can visit any time...
This is the sunrise outside of my door this morning:

The long, flat road....
We love mountains!  And tumbleweed....

Fun and games in New Mexico.... state park in Elephant Butt and natural hot springs (106.7*) in Truth or Consequences. Amazing!!! (Many thanks to Emmy for indulging me with the hot springs, which I'm sure was NOT her idea of fun!)

Driving into Yuma!

By popular request: pictures of my entire life shoved into the car.  The trunk was completely full also.  Emmy has learned well from Dad!

St Louis

Pretty girls get away with....

A friendly fuzz
That is me at the base....the Arch really is huge!
Okay, so we were in St Louis Tuesday morning....slow to post pictures.  It was cold and a bit misty-Emmy's perfect weather!  The Arch is really beautiful, as was Emmy's furry friend.

Stopped for an extended evening in Alberquerque tonight, which has proved quite enjoyable.  Shopping, salon treatments, and our best dinner yet at The Range Cafe (rangecafe.com).  Delicious!

Oklahoma is windy!

So Emmy and I made it to Weatherford, OK tonight.  Pictures to follow of the St Louis arch, the rediculously packed car, and other exciting goings-on.  We are having a surprisingly fun time...2 more full days in the car and then to my new apartment!

Last Day at Riverside!

Here we go!  I decided in September to move along...literally!  Friday was my last day at Riverside and Monday Emmy and I head out for Arizona.  Stay tuned for posts about our cross-country travels and my time in the desert!  I have the best friends in the world!
