Mmm...

The best dinner I've had yet in LA (or Yuma!!) I wandered past this charming restaurant a few weeks ago: all brick and leaded glass windows and delectable aromas. I didn't take myself out last night, so made up for it after church tonight. Delicious.
Good night! Xoxo

Movin' and Shakin'!

I dreamt last night that they were doing construction on my apartment without telling me and everything was shaking.  Woke up this morning and did a little Google search....a new first! I think it is so interesting that our minds will try to make sense of what we don't know!

Off to the gym, walk on the beach, work, etc.  Happy Wednesday everyone! xoxo

Neat!

I got to see some really neat things this weekend.  The picture below is of the "fountain" across the street from me-it is metal cylinders of different sizes and textures that have water running down them.  Random, but so fun to find in the middle of the city.

My feet were on the beach a lot today!

I saw some really interesting kites flying today: I'm still not sure how to take good pictures with my phone, so these don't really do the scale of the kites justice.  They were huge!  Not to mention interesting: a pod of orcas, two divers, a mermaid, Nemo, and others.  Really, really cool.

Happy Sunday!  Make this week really great! xoxo

Fit Club!

Just finished a beach workout...and then a push up contest with this guy. I definitely didn't win, but had a ton of fun!
Happy Sunday! Xoxo

Walk a mile!

1.1 to be exact. This is LA's restaurant week, so I decided to take myself someplace new.  I ended up at a restaurant where they would not seat me at a table by myself, the bar was full, and they ignored me for 27 minutes.  I was ready to walk out, but was quite cranky from the aforementioned walk and lack of dinner.  The food turned out good, but the service continued to be poor.  Oh well, at least now I know not to go back.  I also know I can walk 2.2 miles in 4" heels!  Woo hoo!

xoxo

Hmmm....

I'm enjoying the irony of hearing "New York" by Alicia Keys while out to dinner. Review to follow!

Pretty Palisades

I went hiking with a few friends on Sunday to Temescal Canyon.  I forgot my camera in the car, but these phone pictures give a passable idea of how vast and beautiful Southern California is.  After, I went to the Pacific Palisades Farmers Market and then to the beach.  "Blessed" has taken on new meaning! xoxo

LA loves me!

And I'm loving LA! I'm more blessed than I ever knew I could be.

The pig

The Baptism/birthday spread! Mmm...hungry...

Sunset

<p>We had a fun, relaxing day yesterday. My dad, my hero made dinner for 11 over a campfire! And then we ended the night with this beauty. Amazing!

The boys

Josh from work had two friends in from Michigan this week and we all went out to dinner last night. So fun!
Got to practice with my 5"heels for Ashley's wedding...it is exciting to walk in heels that high and try not to fall. Heehee!

My Sunshine

The sunshine at the end of my long rainbow today.  I'm going to Seattle!  Yay!!!  Won't take my computer, so most posts will come after the weekend.  xoxo

Independence Day my way

I took myself back to Perch tonight...this time to see the fireworks.  I could smell the gunpowder before I could see anything as I climbed the steps from the main restaurant on the 15th floor to the rooftop bar on the 16th floor.  Little did I know what I'd find once I got up there!  There wasn't a "downtown LA fireworks show"---there were about 12!  Because Perch is high and there are no high buildings on 3 sides, I was able to see the fireworks from all of the surrounding towns and Dodger Stadium.  A-mazing!  I will own to a bit of trepidation surrounding going out to a party on a festive day by myself, but it was the best thing I could have done.  I didn't have to move from my great vantage point and could take all of the (no flash) pictures I wanted.  The right kind of independence!
xoxo

Thank you to Grandpa, Brent, Patrick and all of the other men and women who have served or are serving to keep me free

No fireworks here, but I thought the reflection
on the building was really neat.

Trying to get better with the panoramic feature on my phone....I have no talent for this!

A Day of....

Not rest per se, but definitely relaxation.  Church, Farmers' Market, then home to make Canada Day and 4th of July cakes for work.

This is Helmet...he came home from the market with me.  Now he lives in the courtyard of my apartment.

Bountiful!  Josh is going to juice again for me :-)
I have plans for these berries....

Cakes! Super easy recipe

Occasionally I do too many things at once. This is the coconut whipped cream I made for the Canada Day cake (delicious).  Note the water bottle on the floor-it is actually frozen.  I was icing my foot, beating the cream, making dinner, and watching a video.  Bad idea.  Thankfully, no electronics were harmed!

A certain amount of artistic license must be taken when the medium is whipped cream with fruit.
Hopefully they taste as good as they smelled!
